How to Remove or Ban an Unwanted Participant

Use this only when your owner, co-owner, or staff role provides the needed moderation authority.

Steps

  1. Open the participant or moderation controls.
  2. Select the participant you need to manage.
  3. Choose remove or escort when they may be allowed to return later.
  4. Choose ban when they should be blocked from returning to that Room.
  5. Confirm the action and review the Room door settings.
  6. Change shared access information if it may have spread.

What should happen

The participant leaves the Room; a ban also blocks return under the Room's available controls.

Common problems

  • Lower roles cannot moderate higher roles.
  • A Room ban is not a platform-wide identity ban.
  • Someone using new access information may still need separate action.
  • Use Serious Concern reporting for abuse that JoinRooms should investigate.
