Room Password, Nickname, and Owner PIN Explained

Use this guide before creating, joining, or sharing access to a Room.

Last reviewed: July 25, 2026

Steps

  1. Use the Room name to identify which Room to open.
  2. Share the Room password with intended participants when password entry is required.
  3. Ask each participant to choose their own nickname.
  4. Keep the Owner PIN private and separate from invitations.
  5. If access information spreads too widely, use available owner controls to change it.

What should happen

Participants receive only the details they need, while owner access stays separate.

Common problems

  • An Owner PIN is not the participant Room password.
  • A nickname does not prove someone's real identity.
  • JoinRooms cannot promise recovery of every forgotten credential.
